Recently we have had the chance to interview Lindsey from Pictours Paris . We got to know her a little bit more and we wanted to share this with all of you.
Lindsey kindly accepted to answer to some of our questions, but if you want to know more about her and Pictours Paris, don't hesitate in visiting her social platforms.
What made you
begin with Pictours™ ™ Paris? And how did you come up with its name?
The idea for Pictours™ Paris first came to mind when
our friends were visiting us in Paris on a leg of their European honeymoon in
October 2011. My husband and I had been in Paris for about two months so far,
and I was actively brainstorming ideas and options for what I might do for work
in Paris.
While our friends were here, I toured them around the
city and took pictures of them all along the way. Photography had always been a
hobby and passion of mine, so it was instinctive to be photographing them as we
visited all of the great monuments and sites Paris has to offer! One day, while
sipping wine on a terrace with my friends, they mentioned how lovely it was to
have all of these photographs of them in Paris together. During the rest of their honeymoon in London, all of
their photographs were either of him or her, or very rarely of the two of them
together (other than the stretched out arm “selfies”).
So that’s when the light bulb went off in my head. I
decided that Paris needed a service that focused on photographing couples,
families, and adventurous solo travelers in Paris: “picture-perfect memories in
the world’s most picture-perfect city!”
I got to work building a website and portfolio, and
the business rolled out about six months later.
The name for Pictours Paris came to me one night as my
mind was wandering while I lay in bed (as it always does!). I literally shook
my husband awake to tell him I’d come up with the perfect name, and it just
stuck. Why “Pictours?” Because Pictours Paris photo session is a great way to
see the city by foot as we take beautiful portraits of you all along the way!
Can you
describe what it is all about? What will people find in it?
A Pictours Paris photo session is so much more than
just smiling for the camera: it’s an experience you’ll never forget. Most of my
clients write me and say their Pictour was one of the highlights of their time
here, because not only will you have these memories cherished in photographs,
but the session itself is also a lot of fun and we get to walk all around this
beautiful city!
What would you
say you love most about it?
My favorite aspect of Pictours Paris is that I get to meet couples from all
over the world! So far I’ve met people from every continent except Antarctica,
and it’s such a thrill to be surrounded by people day in and day out who all
share a common interest: a love for Paris.
Do you have a
favorite Blog or people that inspires you?
I find inspiration from my clients every day, as well
as from the support of my family. My father-in-law, Tony Kent, was a well-known
fashion photographer in Paris and around the world for many years. And my
step-father-in-law, Jim Arndt, is an advertising and fashion photographer in
the states. Both of them are huge inspirations to me, and their support of my
career in photography (and starting that career here in Paris!) has been
instrumental.
What does Pictours™
Paris mean to you?
To me, Pictours Paris is my ultimate dream job and I
feel like I’ve finally found what I’ve been searching for in a career: the
combination of creativity, working with amazing people, and travel.
Do you have
any future plans for it?
Yes, I do! I’m currently focusing on strengthening my
brand and services here in Paris and France, but I have definite plans to
expand the “Pictours™” concept in the near future. All I can say for now is to
stay tuned!
Is there
something more you would like to tell us?
I’d love to tell you about the collaboration that
began last summer between my husband and Pictours Paris. My husband, Justin, is
a chef and has cooked at some of the city’s most amazing restaurants (L’Arpege,
Verjus, Agape Substance). So last summer, we began offering my clients gourmet
picnics after a photo session on his days off from the restaurant. My clients
looooved the idea, and so my husband has now created a website (Picnics in Paris)
and we’re hoping to really build his picnic and private dinner business this
coming year. It’s been so much fun to build Pictours Paris, and now to be able
to collaborate and work with my husband is like the icing on the cake!
What do you
like most about Paris?
For me personally, I think it’s amazing that Paris
connects people from all walks of life and from over the world. It truly is a
magical place, and I’m so lucky to be able to call it home and wake up every
day happy to be doing the work I once could only dream about! And of course I
love how photogenic Paris is all days of the year! Rain, shine, blue skies or
gray skies: j’adore this city!
Thanks Lindsey for sharing your passion with us and with our readers. It has been absolutely amazing to be able to know you better.
Merci, Habitat Parisien! I really appreciate your support of my business, and love your apartments so much! All my best to you in 2014 and hope to see you again soon! :)
